The Bradford Pothole Club’s headquarters is a traditional Dales longhouse located in the hamlet of Brackenbottom, near Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
In 1963 the club moved into ‘The Dump’, a historical name dating back to when the club only had a tackle dump without accomodation – it’s not descriptive of the current premises! It provides an ideal base for caving and other outdoor activites in the Dales. The footpath up Penyghent starts just 100m from the door, and it’s a good starting point for local caves such as Penyghent Pot, Little Hull Pot, Hunt Pot etc.
The Dump retains its traditional character and is well equipped for cavers, with a Changing room, Toilets and Showers; Kitchen; Common room; Two mixed sex alpine-style bunkrooms, Two further bunkrooms; SRT practice area. The downstairs rooms are underfloor centrally heated.
Members can benefit from access to lockers, the club tackle store and library. The library contains a collection of caving books, journals, magazines and surveys, along with our own publications.
Adjacent to the private car park is a lawned garden, rope washer and a separate garage that contains a dehumidifer-equipped drying room. In addition, we also have a pressure washer.
